Goal:
Class time and curriculum is structured around literature of
various time periods in British Literature. It is helpful to understand the culture in which these texts
were created. The presentations are aimed at providing the students with a basic understanding of the
culture and people of a specific time and place.
Preparation:
1.
Research the period from a historical and
cultural angle.
2.
Create a 15 minute multimedia and interactive presentation
3.
Do not show lengthy videos unless you yourselves
are talking in them.
4.
The goal is to help the class understand this
time period.

What geographical areas are most important in
this time period?
b.
How was money predominantly being made?
c.
What were some majore events of the time period?
d.
Who were major (non-literary) characters?
e.
What was every day life like?
i. How
old did people normaly get?
ii. What
were their gender roles?
iii. What
faith did they have?
iv. Who
where their heroes and why?
f.
Who could read?
g.
What foods did they that eat we don’t eat any
more?
h.
What entertainment options were available to
them?
i. What
kind of music were they listening too?
ii. What
kind of paintings are they making?
5.
Your presentation should start on time, end on
time and involve the whole class.
